Umbrella Yoga has been lucky enough to partner with more than 50 wonderful organisations, across Kirklees and beyond, since our launch in March 2020.
One of our latest partnerships, led by Laura Merriman, is with the Kirklees Recovery College.
A little more context about the Recovery College: This is led by South West Yorkshire Partnership Trust (NHS) and supported by Calderdale and Kirklees Councils.
The Recovery College “works in partnership with volunteers and other supporting organisations to develop and run a range of workshops and courses which promote wellbeing and good mental health.”
Self-described as for “Adults who want to improve their own wellbeing and/or the health and wellbeing of someone they care for or support…The College is based on the principles of hope, control and personal responsibility.”… We believe that it is possible to regain a meaningful life, despite having a mental or physical health-limiting illness or disability.”
The College’s aims are in complete alignment with Umbrella Yoga’s mission and values, and we hope that Laura’s new classes will become a popular fixture and support many local people to enhance their lives.
